Photographic Prints of The Czars Bedroom, SY Livadia, 188 from Mary Evans Feature

  • This 10x8 Print features an image chosen by Mary Evans. Estimated image size 254x203mm.
  • High quality RA4 prints. Printed on Kodak Endura and Edge papers
  • Image Description: Engraving of Czar Alexander IIs bedroom on his steam yacht Livadia, built at John Elders shipyard, Govan, in 1880. Extremely lavishly fitted out, this yacht was given a radical design, supposedly based on the shape of a turbot. This flat fish design, 235 foot long, 153 foot wide at its beamiest and with only 6 foot draught, was very unsuccessful, with passengers complaining of extreme seasickness. The Livadia was broken up in 1927.
